15th Governor of Nevada.

Nevada-born Fred Balzar was born in Virginia City and was elected as a member of the Nevada State House of Representatives in 1905. He served as a senator between 1909 and 1917 before winning the race for governor in 1926. Balzar died in the governor's mansion in Carson City in 1934 after battling a lengthy, 2-month illness. He shared a close friendship with comedian Will Rogers, who eulogized him as "a real two-fisted governor."
