A ghost town site in northern Churchill County, 4 miles north of Dixie Valley.
Later named "Nickel." Bolivia emerged after Unionville interests began working silver veins during the 1870s. Bolivia produced faint amounts of silver, nickel, and cobalt, even though a smelter was constructed around 1880. Less than 100 tons of ore was worked in Bolivia before interest in the mine faded away. Today, ruins of the Nickel Mine still stand in Cottonwood Canyon on the east slope of the Stillwater Range.
How To Get Here[]
From US 50, travel north on SR 121 for 34 miles to Dixie Valley and continue past the pavement end. Look for a four-wheel-drive (unsigned) road leading into Cottonwood Canyon.
