A point of reference and mining pit in the Humboldt River canyon, 11 miles southwest of Carlin. Barth began as a temporary railroad siding in 1874 that formed a miniscule community of fifteen residents.
Today, a sporadic mining operation occurs here. Two railroad trestles over the Humboldt River provide public access to both the Humboldt River and Barth Pit. Accessible from the unpaved Airplane Pass Road, west from Palisade.
